ABOUT CRESTED BUTTE:
Since the late 1880's people have traveled to this Rocky Mountain town for adventure. In those early days it was for coal and precious metals. Then in the 1960's people's attention turned to skiing; Crested Butte moved into the modern vacation era with the birth of Crested Butte Mountain Resort.
That's not to say that Crested Butte is mainstream, far from it. At 9.000 feet in elevation and 30 miles from the nearest stoplight, "CB" is wonderfully out of the ordinary.
Located near the Continental Divide in the upper Colorado River watershed, Crested Butte and it's sister towns of Almont and Gunnison share prime fishing waters.
Possibilities for world-class spin and fly fishing vacations are abundant, with easy access to the Gunnison River, Taylor River, East River, Slate River, Lake Fork of the Gunnison, and alpine lakes including Lake Irwin.
The area is also a great jumping-off point for trips in the Black Canyon National Park, Gunnison Gorge, and visits to Roaring Judy Fish Hatchery and other West Elk Mountain fishing hinterlands.
With historic Elk Avenue and the Crested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum, there are plenty of ways to take a trip back to an earlier day.
We know you'll enjoy fishing this wonderful place as much as we do. Crested Butte is a favorite!
